First and most important it is FUN for students! Help your teachers MAKE HOMEWORK FUN AGAIN! It engages students and keeps them in school. It also allows kids to be on a team sometimes for the first time, students learn a life skill - cooking, they can cater and serve your District or campus with these new skills, they learn about career opportunities in food-service, welding, agriculture, and the BBQ industries. ANY STUDENT CAN COMPETE AND BE ON A TEAM of 5. You do not have to be an athlete, musician, valedictorian, or rocket scientist although science is a big part of smoke and BBQ . You DO NOT have to have a commercial kitchen. Letter in Varsity BBQ and win awards ,prizes, and bragging rights. Bring adult mentors, BBQ Competitors, sponsors, speakers, funding, and resources to your District and campus. Get your community engaged and let them COME EAT OUR HOMEWORK! #PROJECTBASTEBBQ
Starting a High School BBQ Club on your school campus teaches young people a Life Skill of cooking while also getting them outside and off their cell phones. This skill can be used for serving your campus and community in many ways from Fundraising, Catering, Philanthropy in your community and helping those in need. Students can also volunteer to work with groups like Operation BBQ, Mercy Chefs, American Red Cross, Meals On Wheels, School and Church services groups, State Disaster Relief groups, and local soup kitchens.
